My husband and I are headed back to the Midwest today. We’re going to celebrate the life of his brother Mac and say our final goodbyes at his funeral.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Mac over the past few days since he passed away. He’s not in this world any longer. He was never “of” this world, but he did live in it for quite a while. While he was in this world, he did so much good. He lived as Father intended, gave of himself, shared the love of the Lord, helped those in need, and loved as Jesus loved us. He did the work, so to speak.
As God’s children, we are not of this world. We live in it for a time, and while here, we have work to do. What I heard clearly last night as I prayed to Father about Mac’s life was, “There is still work to do”. It took me a bit to understand what that meant, but I get it so clearly now.
Father wants me, wants us to live every day to the fullest. He wants us to live every day giving of ourselves, helping those in need, sharing His love, and walking in the way of our Lord. I think He was telling me last night, “Keep doing what Mac did”.
So yes, my friends, for the short time we are all in this world, there is work to do. Some days that work isn’t easy, but all days our Lord is with us. And…those days when we don’t think we have what it takes, lean into God, tell Him you need Him to help you take the next step. He’ll be there. Together, with Him, we’ll get ‘r done.
Thanks so much, friends, for your prayers these past weeks. We’ve all felt your love, and it’s a pretty special feeling. Our family is blessed to have so many who care.
Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
