He Deserves

This morning, as I spent my usual quiet time with Father, I made a point to ask Him to truly guide my day. Yes, this is in my daily prayers, but this morning was a little different. You know, sometimes you can get into a pattern when you pray, to the point where it’s almost just reciting from memory. Is it really a prayer then, or am I just going through the motions? Hmmm… tough question for sure, but one that I asked myself this morning.

So, today I made a point of asking the Lord to change my perspective on my day. It’s Monday, a fresh week, and an opportunity to begin the day and the week with an open heart and mind. It’s a chance to let Him dictate the week rather than me going into it with a perspective of how I’m sure it will go. What I mean is, rather than starting Monday with “I really don’t want to deal with this, or that, or I’m not looking forward to this task or that one”, I asked the Lord to open my heart to whatever He wants me to do, and to let me do it, showing His love. I asked Him to change my perspective and allow me to see the many ways I can do His work.

I’ve also begun to change the way that I pray for other individuals. Again, I have gotten into a pattern of saying the names in the same order each day. I’ve started purposefully changing that order each time I pray. This allows me to see the faces of those I’m praying for, it lets me fully focus on the reason I’m praying for them, reminding me of their specific needs.

Friends, I’ve realized how my prayer life has become part of my to-do list. Not good. Daily prayer should be a personal and loving time with our Lord. He knows when we are just going through the motions. When we are, He finds a way to let us know it, like He did with me this morning.

So, today, I encourage you to look honestly at your prayer time with Father and His Son. Are you just going through the motions to check this item off your list? Or…have you carved out special time each day to truly talk with the Lord? I’m grateful that He gave me the nudge today that He deserves my attention.

As you begin your week, allow our Lord to fill your mind, change your perspective, and guide your steps. With Him, we can do all things 🙂 .

Have a great day friends.

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
