Love Packed In

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that my husband and I work in our church office. It’s a blast from the past because we actually met many years ago, when, wait for it…we worked together 🙂 .

Anyway, our church is in what they call Old Naples. It’s a very old part of the city, and believe it or not, the neighborhood was built around the church. That’s how long it’s been there. Being in Old Naples has its pluses and, of course, its challenges. The first of which is that it takes some time to get there, and though there are some very nice restaurants a few blocks away, none are really in-and-out lunch places. So we bring our lunch to work each day.

We have a routine, and I usually pack our lunches each morning. I’m not going to lie, there are some mornings it’s a struggle. I think back to when I packed lunches for my kids, trying to change things up so they didn’t have the same thing every day. Well, not much has changed on that front. I do my best to make sure my husband doesn’t have the same sandwich and salad from day-to-day. I change up the salad or make a wrap. Or, if we’re lucky, we’ve got some leftovers from the night before.

As I was making lunch this morning, I again did my best to change things up a bit. I laughed and thought about him opening the fridge and wondering, “Ok, what do I have today?”. The goal here is to make sure he doesn’t cringe, LOL. Trust me, he wouldn’t do that; he’s too appreciative.

I did think this morning, as I was carefully making things, how much I kind of enjoy doing this little task each morning. It allows me to show my love for my husband simply. It’s a personal touch, a handmade meal, of sorts, and a way to show that I care. Maybe I’m being silly, but I do think little things like this, where we can show our love to our family, well, it matters.

Friends, take time this morning to pack a little love into something special for a family member or friend, even if it’s just a simple text message. Give thanks for the gifts in this life, especially the gift of The Son given for us.

Have a good day everyone 🙂 .

Colossians 3:14
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Ok, did God tap you on the shoulder and tell you to specifically write a blog about making sandwiches for your husband every day????? My husband and I just got in an argument about this last night!! We both have full time jobs, He gets off typically 2 or 3 hours before I do. (I work 11 hours a day-YES, in a dental office : ) ) I feel like some days he could make his own sandwich and I wouldn’t have that “one more thing” to do in the evening. Thanks for the reminder that it’s not about the sandwich at all…it’s about serving our Father and showing others love. Have a blessed day!
