We’ve all seen the various “days” that are recognized. You know what I mean, it’s National Hot Dog Day, National Ice Cream Day, National Sibling Day, etc. While those might be fun to recognize, I have to admit, I feel we’ve gone a little too far. There will come a point when people tune out because every day we’re celebrating something.
Now, having said that, I think we should celebrate each day, for they are a gift from Father. A chance to do His work.
Today, however, is a specific day, Veterans Day. A day to honor those who serve and have served this nation to protect our freedom. Men and women are willing to give their lives for their fellow Americans, most of whom they have never met. Today is their day, a day to pay respect, to say thank you, and to remember their service.
This morning I share this prayer for our Veterans, and I say Thank You for your service.
Almighty God, we give thanks for, and commend to your gracious care, all the men and women of our armed forces, both at home and abroad, those serving now and those who have served. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils that beset them; and grant them a deep sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Friends, take a moment today to say thank you to a Veteran. Remember and honor their service. Today is their day, and it is a special one for our nation.
Ephesians 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
