One of my favorite Christmas songs is Believe sung by Josh Groban. This is the title song for the movie Polar Express. I’m sure you are all familiar with the plot. A young boy has come to that sad point where he no longer believes in Santa, or at least he’s close to it. The movie takes him on a magical train and trip to the North Pole, where, of course, he meets Chris Kringle himself.
So, when you hear the song during the movie, you’re being encouraged to just believe. Believe in the magic of Christmas, believe in the special hope that it brings. One of the best verses in the entire song is, “You’ll have everything you need, if you just believe”.
As you listen to the song, you realize that, though featured in this movie about Santa Claus, Josh is, more importantly, singing about Jesus. At least that is what I believe. Another wonderful verse: “When it seems that we have lost our way, we find ourselves again at Christmas Day.” Think about those words. Christmas Day, when Father gave us the most incredible gift of a Savior who would give His life for us. Honestly, until I listened to this song this morning, I totally missed the significance of that verse.
Well, friends, this morning I share the gift of this beautiful song with you. Whether you know the song or not, I encourage you to listen to it from the perspective of the Christ Child rather than Chris Kringle.
Have a wonderful day, everyone. Continued prayers for little Briggs, who is doing so well, and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
John 20:29
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
