Take a moment to think about your favorite restaurant. What makes it your favorite place? Is it the food, the atmosphere, the service, the people who go there, what makes it so special to you? When I think about the few places that my husband and I love to go, I’m reminded of the wonderful staff. When we come in, they welcome us warmly, they make us laugh, they know what we like to order, and we’re comfortable there. We’re able to relax and just enjoy time together. That is what keeps us coming back.
This morning, as I was walking and talking with Father, I was asking Him for forgiveness for thoughts I’ve had, situations that I should have handled differently, and missed opportunities to show His love. I asked Him to help me be better today, to recognize when I’m about to do something silly, and stop and handle it the way Jesus would.
As I walked, prayed, and asked for forgiveness, I heard the words, “Keep coming back to Me”. I thought about all the times I’ve failed to do the work that He has asked me to do. I’m not perfect, but I can be better in so many little ways. In thinking about those times, I realized that the Lord is always there to come back to and ask for forgiveness. He is always there to welcome me, to listen, to forgive, and to give me strength to keep on trying. There is a comfort in knowing that His mercy and love endure forever.
I know this is a stretch, but, like our favorite restaurant, I feel relaxed and comfortable in my time with Father. He knows me better than I know myself. He is always there to warmly welcome me, and yes, He even makes me laugh at times, (actually, I think He has a great sense of humor).
Friends, our relationship with God should be the most comfortable and meaningful relationship we have in our lives. We need to keep coming back to Him, through whatever challenges come our way. He will always be there to welcome us.
Have a wonderful day, friends, and hey, stop at your favorite place tonight, and then, stop in and talk with the Lord π .
Continued prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
