On my bike ride this morning, I was asking Father to help me hear Him as I rode. I was talking about my day, what was on my to-do list, and asking Him to guide me through the day.
As I rode, I found myself asking Him, “What was it like, those conversations that you had with your first children, Adam and Eve?” He talked with them regularly in the garden. Every day they walked and talked together. Can you imagine, walking in the most beautiful place and talking with Father, the creator of everything?
To Adam and Eve, though, they knew nothing else. He was their Father. He was everything to them. He provided for every need, gave them the most beautiful home to live in, gave them food, and gave them each other. He came to be with them every day.
I kept imagining, as I rode this morning, what those conversations must have been like. Did Adam and Eve ask Him questions? Did they share what they did that day? Did they laugh with Him?
The Lord provided everything for them and had only one rule. Don’t eat from this tree. Unfortunately, even through all of their time with Him, sharing all with Him, they didn’t trust the Lord enough to obey His one rule. And, well, we know how things turned out. Side note, because we couldn’t keep the one rule, um, now we have TEN. But, that’s for another blog.
After they ate from the tree, what happened? They hid. The Lord came to the garden to be with them as He always did, and when they weren’t where He could see them, He asked, “Where are you?” He knew what had happened, and He probably knew right where they were, but He still asked, “Where are you?” He wanted them to come to Him, to be honest and share everything, as they always did.
Friends, nothing has changed since the days of the Lord’s first children. He wants us to walk and talk with Him every day. He wants us to share everything with Him. We should talk with Him just as Adam and Eve did. Yes, their conversations were probably a little less complicated, and admittedly, they probably had fewer challenges than we do, but isn’t that even more of a reason to talk with Him regularly?
Let’s make a point to spend time with Him every day, so He doesn’t have to ask us, “Where are you?”
Have a good day, friends 🙂 .
