Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. So simple, and yet they pretty much sum up His teaching about what it means to live as a child of God.
This morning, as I sat down to write this little blog, several messages came to mind. I was struggling with how to convey them, though. I kept bouncing back and forth between them; it just wasn’t coming together. Then, out of the blue, The Beatitudes popped into my head. Ok, then, Father had a different plan for this morning.
I’m not totally sure why they came to mind so clearly, but I’m choosing to believe He wanted me to share them here for someone. If for no other reason, a reminder to us all that we are God’s children, and living according to His ways, that’s all He asks of us.
Have a good day, friends. 🙂
Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
