Start Somewhere

I shared a few months ago in this little blog about the project to take down and rebuild our church. It’s an emotional project, as you can probably imagine. We are just a few meetings away from final approvals from the local officials, and I guess you could say, it’s getting real.

We are at the point now where we are planning for the storage of items from the church, looking at all of our space, and what we need for off-site storage. We’re finalizing service, education, and event calendars, and how we’ll best use our space when all of these activities will be taking place in the same space. Yes, some of it is a little daunting, and there are days when I’m just not sure where to even start.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked on many large projects. I’m a list maker, and my ops brain works best when I’m able to sketch out how things will flow. I know from experience that when things seem daunting or the project is huge, you simply have to start somewhere. I usually start by writing down the tasks that I know need to happen. As I get deeper in, that list gets refined until I before I know it, a plan has taken shape that I can begin to put into place.

There have been times in my life when my relationship with Father has seemed daunting, and I’m not sure where to start. I let questions fill my head; will my sins really be forgiven? Am I doing His work the way He asks? Will I be able to forgive the way He wants? As I said, when things seem overwhelming, well, you just have to start somewhere. Prayer is a good place to start 🙂 .

As my relationship with the Lord has deepened over the years, I don’t find it daunting; I find it comforting. Bringing Him into everything I do and allowing myself to share all my thoughts, dreams, fears, and frustrations with Him has made me stronger in faith. Like those projects I’ve worked on in my career, my relationship with Father takes shape, and things fall into place.

Friends, don’t be overwhelmed by the events of this world. The Lord is with us, and with His help, we can do anything. Start with prayer and ask Him to guide you along the way. Before you know it, things will take shape and fall into place.

Have a good day, everyone. Thanks for your continued prayers for my brother; he’s back on the mend 🙂 . Continued prayers as well for the return of Emily Rea.
