It’s Not Tuff

There is an old saying, “Do the right thing even when no one is looking”. It doesn’t need a whole lot of explanation.

This morning, as I was sitting on the lanai having my morning chat with Him, I thought about a situation recently. I’m really not sure why this particular time came to mind, but maybe Father brought it forward to share as a message here.

Several months ago, a call came into the office. A gentleman shared that his father lived here in town and was in hospice. The family believed that he had just a short time left, and this gentleman was calling for the assistance of a priest to give the last rites. He said he had googled and found our church. The thing was, their community was almost an hour from the church. There were several other churches closer to them; however, I asked the gentleman to hold on while I grabbed one of our priests to talk with him. Our associate priest jumped on the line, and not long after, grabbed his jacket and the necessary items to help this family, total strangers, say goodbye to their father. Yes, this is our priest’s calling; it’s what he does; however, it’s more than that. It’s what God calls us all to do: help those in need.

We don’t need years of training. We don’t need to be ordained clergy. We need to be the children Jesus asked us to be. It’s not hard when you think about it. Just be there and treat others as you want to be treated. Share a smile, say good morning, thank you, and have a nice day. Hold a door for a stranger, let the other guy go first at the four-way stop sign. Buy the stranger behind you at the coffee shop his cup of joe. Give a little of yourself each day, it’s not tuff 🙂 . Give it a try today.

Have a good day, friends!
