They Want What You Got

I’ve mentioned here in this little blog many times before that you just never know how your small interaction with someone can change their life. You never know when just your behavior, showing Jesus within you, will bring someone closer to Him.

Yesterday I attended the funeral of a long-time parishioner. He was 92 years old. As I got to know him over time, I came to know him as a practical sort. What I mean is, he was matter-of-fact and did what he had come to know was right.

What I learned about him yesterday, though, well, it stresses the point that your actions and showing Jesus in your life can bring someone closer to Him. You see, this gentleman wasn’t always a Christian. He didn’t always have faith and a strong relationship with Christ. When he and his wife moved to Naples, many, many years ago, it was she who began attending church regularly. Over time, her growing faith drew him in.

Over time, he too began to come to church. He became involved in contemplative prayer each week. Then joined a weekly bible study, and then, a regular reader of lessons on Sunday mornings. Yes, over time, the actions of his wife showed him something that was missing in his life. Over time, his faith strengthened, and he, too, began bringing others into the fold.

So, you may not think that your actions, your everyday interactions with people, can make a difference. I believe they can. It’s easy to show Jesus at work in you, even with just a simple smile, good morning, and how are you interaction. Before you know it, others want what you got 🙂 .

Have a good day, friends. Show a little bit of the Lord in what you do today.

Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
