The Two Lights

My husband and I took a walk after dinner last night. A little routine we’ve started. As we were beginning, I stopped and backed up a few steps because something caught my eye. It was the moon, a huge moon shining bright in the sky. The sun had not yet set, and the two lights were shaking hands as one rose and the other set.

We made our way around the community. As we came down the back side, we could see the moon in full view. My husband commented on how the color had changed somewhat just in the little while since we first saw it. It was brighter as well since the sun was almost fully set.

When I went out to have my evening talk with Father before bed, I noticed something about that moon. It was directly in front of me for starters, which it rarely is. It was sitting lower than usual. What struck me, though, was that when I looked at the moon, the rays were forming a cross radiating from behind it. Literally, the moon was in the center of the cross. At that moment, I was reminded of the words from Genesis, “And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.” Even in the dark of night, His light still shines. Even in the darkest of times, He brings the light.

This morning, I woke to an update from Rory Feek about little Indy. It was an amazing update. Today, just four days after open-heart surgery, they expect Indy to be released from the hospital. The miracle they prayed for came. It was a little different than what they expected, but God did work a miracle in her rapid recovery. I have to admit, when I didn’t hear anything since Rory’s Thursday evening update, I was getting concerned that there were complications. No, God was just at work, healing one of His children. He was bringing light to the darkness in the wee hours of the morning in that hospital room.

Another update this morning as well. My friend confirmed that his dad, James, was released from the hospital yesterday. He has some follow-up appointments over the coming days, and an area the doctor is continuing to watch, but he, too, has done amazingly well. Again, the Lord was at work, healing this man, who just days ago had a 50/50 chance of losing his foot.

I don’t think the timing of that moon last night with its cross radiating, and the verse from Genesis were a coincidence. I think Father was letting me know that He was at work, showing the light to those who needed it most.

Friends, thank you for your prayers. God certainly heard them and gloriously answered them. Please keep Indy and James in your prayers as the Lord brings the light for continued healing.

Have a great day, everyone!

John 12:46
I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
