I took some time off this past week. It was nice. I celebrated my birthday with good friends, sitting by the water, fishing pole in hand for most of the day, and relaxing. The balance of the six days, well, I did much of the same. I can spend hours just sitting on a dock moving between my two fishing poles. I guess I’m pretty boring when it comes to vacations 🙂 .
Each morning I spent my time with Father looking at the water. I watched the sun set every day, and most of those days the colors were simply amazing. I thought a lot about the blessings that Father has brought to my life, wondering what I’ve done to deserve them. I gave thanks for those blessings.
This morning, as I sat down to write, I realized I didn’t have a particular message in mind. In fact, I’ve typed and erased several things already sitting here. Maybe that’s the point; maybe Father just wanted to remind me just how blessed I am, and to share that reminder with all of you.
Friends, we are blessed. Yes, we will face difficulties and challenges in this life, but through them all, the Lord is with us. I believe that even through the most difficult times, there is something to be thankful for.
Today, my message is simple: take time to give thanks for the gifts the Lord has given. Give thanks for your family and friends. Give thanks for the sunrises and sunsets that paint the sky each day. Give thanks for the opportunity to make a difference in this world. Give thanks for vacations and times of rest. Give thanks for the greatest gift: the Son, given for us.
I give thanks, as always, my friends, for you. Thank you for being here each day and for your continued support. Continued prayers for the return of Emily Rea, and I also ask that you lift prayers for Philip and his family. They are going through a very difficult time right now. Please pray that the Lord brings peace and strength to their family.
Have a good day, friends.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
