Unanswered Prayers

Last night, as I sat with Father before bed, I said, as I do every morning and evening, a prayer to bring sweet Emily Rea home to her family. Last night, though, it was with a little more earnestness. We’re coming up this week on the anniversary of her disappearance; maybe that is why I’ve been thinking of her more.

I implored the Lord to please bring her home, in whatever form that takes. If she is still alive, bring her home from whatever has kept her away so she may be with her family and heal. If she is not, and the worst has happened, then please bring her home that her family may have closure. I reiterated, as I always do, “Lord, you know where she is; please bring her home.”

I realized as I went to bed that I was feeling sad that prayers for her return are seemingly not being answered. Daily, for almost two years, many, many others and I have been praying for her return. What is the message that Father is trying to send to us?

I woke to that same question this morning as I prayed with Father quietly. Though I don’t fully understand the Lord’s plan with Emily, I know that He wants us to trust Him, to not let our faith waver. When our faith is tested, that is when satan sees weakness and an opportunity to slip in through the cracks. We must stand firm in our faith, trusting in the power of prayer and in the work of the Lord.

So, I’ll keep praying every day, multiple times a day, for the return of this sweet child of God. I’ll keep praying that the many questions around her disappearance will be answered. I’ll keep praying that the Lord continues to strengthen her family.

Friends, I know this is just one situation; many of you have your own prayers that may seem to not be answered. I just encourage you to hold firm in your faith and trust in the Lord. In time, I believe He will reveal His plan.

Thank you, friends, for continued prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea and for Philip and his family.

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.
