I’ve gotten into a routine of walking every morning during the week. I’ve shared here before that I’ve settled on a route around the golf club in our community. I’m getting to know the early morning workers, and if I time things right, I can see the sun rise over the course. I love the smell of the freshly mowed grass, and it’s been interesting watching how the workers tend to the course. I never knew how they got the dew off of the greens; it’s a snappy little machine that just sucks it up 🙂 . Ok, enough about the course.
While I walk, I listen to my favorite playlists. Well, not really. I usually just listen to the same playlist. Sounds boring, I know, but I just love the songs, and when I get back home, I feel uplifted and ready to start the day. A nice walk, good music, a sunrise, yep, that’s the start of a good day.
I think the Lord has a way of bringing music into our lives right when He knows we need to hear it. Even though I listen to the same songs each morning, sometimes one of them will hit me differently than the last time I listened to it, um, like the day before 🙂 . Or, sometimes, when I hear a song, I’ll think of a friend or family member, and realize it might be just what they need to hear.
So, this morning, friends, I wanted to share a tune that I love for whoever might need to hear it. I’ve shared it before, but today, in addition to sharing the link to the song, I wanted to share the written words to it. It has such a simple message, and one that resonates with me.
The name of the song is Just Be Held by Casting Crowns. This particular version is from their 20th anniversary show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and I think it’s one of their best. Here are the lyrics to the song; read along as she sings, and I think you might find that this one touches you too.
Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on
And when you’re tired of fighting
Chained by your control
There’s freedom in surrender
Lay it down and let it go
So when you’re on your knees
And answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on
And just be held
Your world’s not falling apart
It’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on
And just be held
Just be held
Just be held
If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will
Not a tear is wasted
In time you’ll understand
I’m painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands
So when you’re on your knees
And answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on
And just be held
Your world’s not falling apart
It’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on
And just be held
Just be held
Just be held
Lift your hands, lift your eyes
In the storm is where you’ll find Me
And where you are
I’ll hold your heart
I’ll hold your heart
Come to Me, find your rest
In the arms of the God who won’t let go
So when you’re on your knees
And answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on
And just be held
Your world’s not falling apart
It’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on
And just be held
Just be held
Just be held
Just be held
Just be held
Have a good day, friends, and remember, we’re never alone. He is always with us 🙂 .
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
