The 39th

Today is a special day. My husband and I celebrate our 39th anniversary. I’m typing this from one of my favorite places, sitting by the sea. We got up early to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic with a cup of coffee. I have to say, I’ve never seen the sea so calm.

As I sit writing this, I’m recalling the last 39 years. Well, I’m recalling the last 41 or so; that’s how long we’ve known each other. Like all marriages, we’ve had our challenges, ups and downs, for better and worses. You don’t get to a 39th though without more ups and more betters 🙂 .

This morning, as the sun rose, I said a silent thank you to Father for the gift of my best friend. My husband, the father of our children, the grandfather of the bestest grandkids. Thank you for your constant and quiet patience, especially with me over the years. Thank you for forgiving me when I stumbled, for your strong shoulders to catch the tears, for sharing the laughter and the love, always. I know I try that patience of yours, but as we jokingly say, “Gotta Love Me”.

So today, sweet husband, I say, Happy Anniversary. Thank you for always being by my side. I simply love you to the moon and back, and I look forward to the next 39 years together 🙂 .

Friends, I’m going to take the next few days off from this little blog as we enjoy some downtime together. I’ll be back on Monday morning. Have an amazing weekend and give thanks to Father for the gift of those you love 🙂 .

Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
