My husband and I spent a few days in the Upper Keys to celebrate our anniversary. It was a nice time away, and the life there is a tad more laid-back than here. Everywhere you look, people are in shorts, sandals, and usually a T-shirt referencing some local hangout, or something to do with fishing. The water is crystal clear, and its blue/green color is amazing. And…their sunrises are easier to see.
We got up early a few mornings, grabbed a cup of coffee, and headed down to the water to take in those sunrises. As we made our way to the beach, we noticed the overcast clouds. However, like our sunsets on the West Coast, the clouds tend to make for beautiful colors.
One particular morning, the clouds were pretty thick on the horizon, and I was certain we wouldn’t see the sun rise until it passed through that grouping of clouds. I kept checking the time on my phone to see if we’d missed it because of those clouds. Right at 6:51 a.m., the sun burst through the clouds. It was amazing to watch. We noticed how large the sun was as it overtook the clouds. A few formations formed, and I could swear I saw a pelican on one side and a palm tree on the other as the sun split the clouds in two š
I thanked the Lord for the gift of a beautiful sunrise. I thought then about how once again He was showing how He overcomes the darkness. I was certain that we wouldn’t see the sunrise because of the clouds. Then, as if to say, “Don’t doubt”, He made the sun push through the darkness with the brightest light. It was a simple reminder that the strength of our faith can pull us through the darkest of times.
Yes, it was a nice few days, and a nice reminder as well, that Father is always with us. Friends, keep the faith, put your trust in Him, and know that light will always overcome the darkness.
Have a great day. I’m off for my walk, and maybe catch sunrise š .
Malachi 4:2
But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.
