If you’re like me, you’ve had your fill of election primary season texts, robo calls, postcards, and commercials. It’s stunning to me that the amount of money is being spent not to talk about the issues, but rather to simply trash whatever opponent(s) you have. There are so many accusations flying around; you simply don’t know who to believe. I think it’s sad that this process has become quite the joke among us common folk, meaning those not running for political office.

No friends, I’m not here to do an entire blog about the election season. Today, though, I do want to remind everyone that our country was founded on the belief in God our Father. We were founded as a Christian nation, with its people subordinate to God and…our government subordinate to its people. Our leaders are elected by us and are here to represent us, not their own interests. Unfortunately, that has been forgotten by far too many, and I say that regardless of your political affiliation.

Today, here in Florida, it’s primary day. We are blessed with the freedom and the right to vote for our elected officials. I hope everyone is grateful for and takes that right seriously. I hope everyone takes time to do their homework, ask questions, understand the candidates, and the issues they think are most pressing.

More importantly, I pray for this nation. I pray for its people to rise up against the evil that has befallen it in many ways. I pray that the Lord will close the divides, soften the hearts, and open the minds of His children. I pray that He will remind us that we are all His children, and together we must hold our leaders accountable.

We live in a nation like no other. We are a free people. We are not perfect, but I wouldn’t dream of living anywhere else.

So, friends, whether today is a primary day in your state or not, I do encourage you to participate in the process. Do your homework, meet the candidates, ask them questions, share your thoughts, and, most importantly, pray that Jesus will guide their hearts to make the right decisions for this great nation.
