Do It Anyway

When our kids were growing up, there were times they’d come home complaining about a teacher or another student. They just didn’t “mesh” with the other person. I remember we’d tell them that there would be many times in life when they would encounter people they didn’t necessarily care for, but they’d have to interact with them. Additionally, there would be times when they had to do things that weren’t necessarily fun but had to be done.

It’s funny, I was thinking about those times this morning, because yes, there are moments in my adult life that I encounter people I don’t necessarily “mesh with”. Well, as I told my kids, ya gotta interact with them. Lately, I find myself consciously trying to be better at this. I try to count to 5 before responding, or I try to be more professional, thoughtful, and helpful when I respond to an email. Yes, there are times when I want to just hit the delete key rather than respond, but I do it anyway.

Sometimes I think Father puts people and situations before us just to see how we’ll respond. Do we have the heart of Jesus in us to respond in a graceful and caring way? I’ll be the first to admit that many times I don’t, and that’s my bad. I’ve been asking the Lord to help me be better this way. I’ve asked for the strength to, even though difficult at times, do it anyway.

Friends, there are many times in our lives when we have to deal with challenging people and situations. Maybe God has us there to strengthen us and make us better. The good news is that He is there in those situations with us and is giving us the strength to get through. So when you feel like you simply can’t deal with that person, or can’t handle that situation, do it anyway. Take a deep breath, ask the Lord to guide you and walk beside you, and jump in and git ‘r done. You’ll be glad you did 🙂 .

Have a good day, everyone!

Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
