A dear friend of mine is going through a difficult time. I’ve spoken of her often here, and today I just ask for continued prayers for her family. You see, she is Emily Rea’s aunt. Unfortunately, they had to say goodbye to another family member over the past few days.
Yesterday on social media, my friend shared this post. Not knowing what had happened when I first read it, the words went straight to my heart. I don’t know if any truer words could be spoken. They are the simplest, yet the most heartfelt words I’ve read in a very long time.
Love your people.
Reach out. Touch their hand. Hug them a little longer. Tell them what they mean to you while you have the opportunity.
And if you are a person of few words, decide who your people are and choose a few words.
“I love you.”
“I’m grateful for you.”
“You matter to me.”
“I will always be here.”
Yesterday, I had a few quiet minutes with someone I love. There were things in my heart that I desperately wanted to say, but when the moment came, grief took away my voice. I thought I would have more time. I planned to say those words this morning.
This morning never came.
Sometimes love is so deep that the words simply will not come. I believe the people we love can feel what our mouths cannot say. But if you have the opportunity today, please find your words. Do not wait for the perfect moment or for courage to arrive.
Make the call. Send the message. Hold their hand. Give the hug. Say the words.
Love your people and let your people know they are loved.
Continued prayers for Steve, Emme, and their entire family. And…continued prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
