Through the Trees

I’m in North Carolina this week with the 65-and-older golf group that I’ve worked with for the last several years. They hold two events each year, and I’m blessed to plan them and spend time with some pretty wonderful people. The group has become like family, and though they may be seniors, um, they can still play a mean game of golf πŸ™‚ .

When we arrived yesterday, my husband and I made our way around the home where we are staying. It didn’t take me long to find the porch on the side of the house with two rocking chairs that looked out through the pine trees. If you’ve been to NC, you know that they are known for their beautiful pines. The community we are in is called Pinehurst, not far from Southern Pines and Pinewild; you get the idea.

Last night I spent my quiet time with Father in one of the rocking chairs. It was a lovely evening. This morning, again I made my way to the porch. As I sat down in one of the rocking chairs, I noticed the moon in the sky through the pine trees. Just a sliver right now, but it was surrounded by bright stars. Then I noticed the quiet. Just the crickets chirping, like literally just the crickets. People make fun of me when I tell them how early I get up, but you know what, it is the most peaceful time of the day. That peacefulness, well, it helps you just feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.

I’ve said it so many times in this little blog, but I think it bears repeating. Friends, we are so blessed with this beautiful creation of Gods. From the mountains to the ocean to the plains in between. Whether you love the pines, the oaks, or the palms, this world is a masterpiece. Take time to enjoy it and to make it a better place.

Have a good day, everyone. I’m off to spend it with some wonderful people and enjoy the beauty of this place. Continued prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
