I spent some time yesterday talking with family, getting an update on my brother’s situation. Things are moving, slower than we hope, but they have found a place to rent while their home can be rebuilt.
As I thought about ways to help them, something came to mind. I’m so thankful that they are safe, and we’ve all said that the things that were lost were just that, things. They can be replaced. However, replacing some things will be more difficult than others. For instance, family pictures.
I looked around our home at all the pictures over the years. From pictures of our children when they were little to recent photos of our whole family with the grandkids. I can’t imagine losing those pictures.
I have a tub of pictures from growing up, like a very large tub. This afternoon I’m going to make my way through the tub and see what I find. My hope is to find pictures that I can frame and share with my brother. Maybe they can bring a little “home” to the place they will be staying for a while.
In today’s AI world, I’m so thankful that we have our own pictures and memories. Having those physical photographs to look through and remember the times those images were taken, well, there is nothing quite like it. I don’t need technology to create the images, I’d much rather look at the real thing.
Friends, cherish the moments you have with family and friends. Take the pictures, share the memories, and give thanks to God for these gifts.
Have a good day friends, and thanks for your continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
