The Cornerstone

There are many verses in Scripture that refer to Jesus as the cornerstone. I was reading several this morning. They all, of course, emphasize how Jesus is the sure, firm and everlasting foundation. If we build our lives on and around Him, nothing will be stronger.

OK, that’s all nice, but where am I going with this, this morning πŸ™‚ . Well, today we will be taking out the literal cornerstone of our church building. We have pictures from almost 75 years ago, when it was laid. From the historical records we’ve found, we believe there is a container inside the stone. Of course, we’re all anxious to see if that is the case. I’m hoping we don’t have an Al Compone’s vault moment when the stone is removed πŸ™‚ .

This morning, as I was thinking about what we’ll be doing today, the scripture verses came to mind. I don’t know that I can ever hear the word cornerstone and not think of Jesus and all the times He is referred to as this. Maybe that is Father at work. He plants those messages to be subtle reminders to us, that Jesus is the only way to Him, and with Him we are as strong as the strongest foundation.

Friends, remember that the Lord is always with us. He is the cornerstone, which holds us all together. Lean on Him in times of difficulty, and let Him be your strength.

Thank you, friends for always being here. I’ll let you know tomorrow if we found anything in that cornerstone πŸ™‚ . Thank you also for your continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie.

Matthew 21:42
Jesus said to them, β€œHave you never read in the Scriptures: β€˜The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.’
