I’m sure most of us have been through those times when the world around us just felt like… well, chaos. If you have children, just think back to those days when they were toddlers. Your house was a mess, schedules all out of whack and the only time you had five minutes to yourself was in the bathroom 🙂 .
That’s kind of how my days have been over the past few weeks. I had a small victory yesterday when my facilities manager helped me get the last of some items over to our long-term storage unit. We got our family room back in order, after it had been interim storage for some items. Now it’s back to being a nice place for families before funerals, or for brides before their weddings. And…my office has a little more room in it, as it too had become temp storage for some things.
Also, yesterday, our landscaper was able to improve the new entrances to our churchyards. These are the burial grounds that will remain open during our construction. The landscapers trimmed bushes and laid beautiful stepping stones and shells at the entryways. So, even amongst the chaos of the demolition of the building, these sacred spaces are quite beautiful and peaceful. The protective barriers they have errected make these grounds almost a separate area.
In life, when we are going through those challenges, making our way through the chaos, I think the more we can keep order, the stronger we will be. Satan loves to keep us off balance; he loves to create the chaos. It’s in the disorder of things that he can weasel his way in and make us feel alone and lost. The more lost we feel, the more control he takes.
So, in the chaos, find ways to keep order. Stop, take a moment for yourself. Tidy up a space around you. Take the dog for a walk. Spend a little time with Jesus; ask Him to bring peace in the craziness. The more we focus on Him, the clearer things become, and the chaos soon fades.
The Lord is there friends. He will guide us through the chaos and bring us to the peacefulness only He can provide.
Have a good day, everyone. Thanks for your continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie.
John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
