Through the Rubble

Last week, I mentioned in this little blog that I wouldn’t spend too much time giving you all the play-by-play on reconstructing our little church. However, I’m sure I’ll find a message at times for this little blog during the process. I also know that when I need support and/or prayer, this is the best place to come 🙂 .

Over the past few days, the physical taking down of the building has been occurring. I must give the ultimate kudos to the workmen who are handling the demolition. The care with which they are taking it down is incredible.

Yesterday I watched as they pulled down the steeple. The back half of the building was taken down the day before, so they could pull the front of the building into itself. The machine operator carefully placed the bucket on top of the steeple and gently pulled it down. Well, I guess as gently as you can tear down a building.

When we left last night, my husband and I drove around the building to see what it looked like. Looking at the rubble in the back and only a small portion of the front of the church standing, it was difficult to see. As we drove away, I just felt a sense of loss.

I shared a video with my daughter last night. It was from the back of the building, when they were pulling the front down. I mentioned it was tough to watch. She simply replied, “But a reminder that it’s only to make His house stronger.” “Amen”, I replied. Yes, through the rubble, God’s house will be raised higher and stronger than ever.

That’s how things are in our lives. We will all face challenges and difficult times, but if we lean into our Lord, He will give us the strength we need. That strength and His love will bring us through and we’ll find ourselves stronger than before.

So friends, whatever you might be going through in this life, know that Christ is with you. Make your way through the rubble, and you’ll see that you are not alone and you are stronger than you think.

Isaiah 40:29
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
