Back in the day, I loved to sew. I made my kids’ dresses when they were little. Their Christening gowns, Christmas and Easter dresses, even the wedding dress for our oldest. I made various items for our home: curtains and table runners, pillows, and yes, the dog bed for our granddog. I can’t remember the last time I sewed, too long ago, for sure.
Yesterday I spent some time in Hobby Lobby. Too much time. I could spend days in that store, especially during the changing seasons. I admit, I stepped through the Christmas aisles, but only to look specifically at a small tree for our front porch. I didn’t buy a tree, but I did pick up some other items for a couple of projects I’m working on. I finished one last night, and the other, a tie blanket, I’ll tackle today.
The weather is supposed to be icky this afternoon, and I’m looking forward to just being in front of a football game, working on this craft. Again, I used to spend hours in front of my sewing machine on Sunday afternoons. The football games playing in the background. When I was finished, I would wonder at the little projects that came from what were once just pieces of cloth.
You are probably wondering where I’m going with this little blog today. Well, friends, it’s simple. The Lord has blessed each of us with talents. Each of these talents can be used for good, used to help others. If you’re like me, sometimes you forget about those talents, even the little ones.
Take some time today to remember the talents you have. Get back into a pastime that brings you joy and relaxation. Take a look at how you share that talent. Can you make someone’s day a little brighter? Can you help someone through a difficult time? Even the smallest of gestures can make a difference.
Go ahead, make a difference π .
Have a good day, friends. Continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie, and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
1 Peter 4:10
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
