The Brighter Path

Lately we’ve had some pretty amazing sunrises and sunsets here in SW Florida. The cloud shapes and colors have filled the skies with pinks and golds; it really has been amazing.

Yesterday morning, as I pulled out of the driveway, I could see the sky was again painted with pink. I turned onto the main road and could see the beautiful sunrise even more clearly. Wow, it was just gorgeous.

We have several routes we can take to work; most of the time we head west on one of the main thoroughfares until we get to one of the main north/south roads. Yesterday, however, just to see more of the sunrise, I veered off onto the interstate headed south. I was glad I made the turn. The sky in the east was gorgeous. My shoulders relaxed, and I felt so peaceful. I couldn’t help but say, “Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful sky”.

Last night, I attended a newcomer gathering at church. It was later than usual when I headed home. As I made my way out of the parking lot, I could tell the sun was getting ready to set. I’ve mentioned before that our office is like 3 minutes from the beach. Sure enough, as I turned down the road parallel to the beach, I saw it, the huge orange ball hovering above the water. The pull to stop, ya it was pretty overwhelming. I whipped down the next street, one of our favorite parking areas to enter the beach.

I was surprised there were hardly any cars. I grabbed a space close to the entrance and made my way to the sand. Ahh, the softness on my feet and toes would have been plenty to end the night in bliss πŸ™‚ . The sky, however, was truly a gift from the Lord. It’s been months since I’ve watched a sunset from the beach, and this time certainly did not disappoint. It was gorgeous and just what I needed after a very busy day. I’m so glad I made a point to stop.

Yesterday was filled with opportunities to follow the usual routes to and from work. I could have just done what I usually do. Father opened my eyes to a brighter path in both routes. Paths that started and ended my day in beauty and peace.

Friends, even if the brighter path is longer or out of the way, it’s usually the best path to take. God tends to show us the best path to take; we are the ones who usually make a different decision. Let Him guide you, friends; follow the brighter path, enjoy the beauty along the way. If you’re like me, you’ll be glad you did.

Have a good day, everyone. Continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!
