It’s been a quiet few years for us on the storm front. Yesterday we were inundated with rain here in SW Florida, with loads of flooding in our downtown area. Thankfully, it receded fairly quickly, and by the time we left work for home, things were mostly clear.
We’ve all been watching the storm brewing in the Gulf, which has now officially formed into Hurricane Isaias. Another storm beginning with the letter “I”. After major storms like Ida, Irma, and Ian, I’m thinking we should eliminate this letter from the naming of hurricanes.
The storm is expected to make landfall between Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. We’ll have a better idea today whether it will weaken much because of wind shear. Regardless, it will cause heavy rain, flooding, and major wind, expected to reach about 110 mph. Possibility of some tornadoes as well. If you’re in the path of this storm, please prepare and follow your local authorities’ recommendations.
This morning, I just ask that we all lift up prayers for people in the path of this storm. I ask Father to calm the sea and wind and keep His children safe from harm. After it passes, please be there to help those in need. Having been through several of these, I can tell you many will need help in different ways. Let’s be there to lend a hand.
Prayers for all those in the path of Hurricane Isaias.
Galatians 6:2
Bear on another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
