Keeping Him Close

Over the past few days, I’ve felt a little “off”. I wasn’t quite sure what was going on. I just felt like I was in a funk, nothing seemed right and I was just going through the motions.

Yesterday afternoon was no different. I made my way to the pool after church, just in time to stretch out in the sun that had made its way behind a slew of gray clouds. It took only another ten minutes or so for the sprinkles to start. Ugh, I headed back home, taking my funk with me. I took the opportunity to curl up for a short nap while the rain did its thing.

When I woke a little bit later, the funk hadn’t lifted; actually, I found myself even more grumpy. I decided to go out and about to get a few things accomplished instead of sitting in my funk. Just then I looked on my dresser and noticed my little Jesus figurine that I always have in my pocket.

That’s when it hit me! I didn’t have Jesus with me over the past few days. I had been wearing outfits that didn’t have pockets, so my little Jesus sat at home. I wasn’t carrying Him with me, in my pocket, or in my heart. I felt lost.

Now, I get it; you’re thinking, “Come on, Kim, this is just a little figurine”. I realize that, however, what you may not understand is that every time I reach into my pocket during the day and feel that figurine, it’s an instant reminder of Him. Yes, I have Jesus in my heart; I pray with Him every day, but there are those times when you feel a little lost, and that’s when satan slips in.

The little Jesus figurine, it’s an added boost of our Lord each day. It certainly can’t hurt when it comes to keeping satan at bay 🙂 . Remember in this little blog yesterday, I mentioned looking at Him and the wooden cross on my desk, realizing that is all that matters in this world.

Maybe I’m being silly, but I know how I feel when Jesus is with me every day, and trust me, it doesn’t include the funk. Keep Him close, friends, you’ll feel wonderful when you do!

Have a great day. I have it off and am headed to my happy place, spending it on the water 🙂 .

Ephesians 5:8
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
