It’s Saturday, a lazier morning, usually a day to tackle the honey-do list. Today is definitely a day for that. We’ve been so busy at work that there are few things around the humble abode that need tending to. Although I did mention to my husband that I would like to enjoy a coffee and the farmer’s market before we get started.
Then home to tackle one of the chores that is truly at the bottom of my list: cleaning the lanai. If you don’t live in Florida, consider it cleaning your screened-in back porch, or cleaning your back deck. Over time, the rain and the dust bring in the ick. The sliding doors are in need of washing, chairs wiped down, and the floor mopped; you get the idea. It’s not fun, and it takes time to truly clean well.
As I sat with Father this morning, I thanked Him for Saturday mornings, my favorite of the week. Then, I tossed in, “I even thank you for the work ahead of cleaning this lanai” 🙂 . What came to mind was “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”.
Yes, I’ll turn on some music, get lost in thoughts or conversations with Jesus, and just git ‘r done. Though it’s not a chore I’m necessarily looking forward to, I’ll do it for Him. Maybe it sounds odd for me to say that I’ll clean my lanai for Him? Well, everything we have is a gift from the Lord, and it’s our job to take care of it.
Think of how much better a place this world would be if we all remembered that ALL we have, everything on this earth, is a gift from Father. Think about the gifts you have received over time from family or friends. Some of the most precious gifts you’ve received, do you take care of them? I’m guessing you do. Well, all of the gifts we have received from the Lord, don’t they deserve the same care?
So today, friends, as you are preparing for that college football rivalry, take a look around. Give thanks for all the gifts you have, take a moment to tidy them up, and in all you do today, do it for Him.
Have a good day, everyone. Continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie and for the return of Emily Rea.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
