A few months ago, in this little blog, I talked about the directional sign that shows the neighborhood how to get to our church. It’s nothing fancy, but it does help, and it is a landmark of sorts. Many of our parishioners say it helps them not miss the turn: “Otherwise, I’m heading way past where I need to be”.
The new homeowner and I have been having conversations about moving the sign. Even though it is placed in the city right-of-way, the homeowner says it’s going to interfere with the new mailbox that will be built. I’ve looked at various options and locations, and a contact from the city helped me find a spot that I think will work well. Just about 20 feet further north of where it currently sits.
I have to admit, as I said in the earlier blog, this whole situation has made me sad. I’ve tried to be patient and understand the homeowners’ side on this; I’ve explained we want to work with them. However, some of their comments have unfortunately left me less patient, and I’ve asked the Lord to help my disposition when it comes to this project.
Well, this morning we’re going to move that familiar sign. Yesterday I looked closely again at the markings of where it will be placed. As I looked just down the street from that new location, I realized that perhaps, just perhaps, Father had a plan. I believe this new location might work better. You see, where the sign has sat forever is directly across from the road you must turn on to get to the church. In its new location, it will sit a little ways before that road, giving people a little more time before making the turn. Through all of this process, the Lord has provided a better option 🙂 .
Friends, when things happen that frustrate us, when we think we’ve been wronged or others don’t understand, ask Father for help. Ask Him to intervene and show you the way. You might just find that perhaps He has a plan. Newsflash…He always has a plan 🙂 .
Have a good day, friends. Continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
