Do What You Say

I’ve come to realize that this life may be difficult at times, but you know what, we sure could make it easier. One of the ways to do that is to simply do what you say you’re going to do. If you tell someone you are going to do something for them, do it. If you say you are going to take care of a situation, then take care of it. If you make a commitment to provide something, then provide it. And…in every instance, do it well, to the best of your ability, and surpass expectations.

I’ve had to deal with a few situations this week where individuals didn’t do what they committed to do. It’s frustrating, it’s disappointing, and at the end of the day, there wasn’t anything that was overly difficult. They simply needed to follow through on what they committed to do. What made it even worse was that, in each situation, there was no communication that they were not going to meet their commitments. I understand that things happen that might be outside our control, but when you don’t explain the situation and communicate that there is an issue, well, that just makes it all worse.

We’re human; we’re not perfect, I understand that. Father isn’t asking us to be perfect; there was only one who was, and He gave His life for us so we didn’t have to be perfect. What Father is asking is that we be the best we can be.

Last night I watched the replay of the tribute to Dolly Parton concert. Amy Grant took the stage and delivered a beautiful message about Dolly and to all of us. Something she said was so timely to what I’ve been dealing with this week. She said, “Let me do something, say something, or be something that matters to somebody else today”. Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

So, yes, friends, let’s make this life a little easier and better for others. Do what you say, and do something, say something, or be something that matters to someone else. Be the best you can be, and when you aren’t, admit it, ask for forgiveness, and start again šŸ™‚ .

Have a good day, everyone. Continued prayers for Bill and Lorrie and for the return of Emily Rea.

Philippians 2:3
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
