Last night we gathered at church to welcome everyone back for the season. We caught up on our summer happenings, made plans for the season, and enjoyed being together. After some nosh and beverages, we learned more about the Choral Residency trip our choir took to the UK this summer. They sang at some of the most beautiful cathedrals in England.
Not only were we treated to hearing several of the pieces they sang on their trip, but we heard from several members as well. This group of young adults are not only talented musicians, but they are also special people. As I listened to them talk briefly about the trip and about what it and our church family meant to them, I realized that Father is at work among the young. They are discovering Him and drawing nearer to Him and growing in faith as they grow musically.
I saw a news article a few days ago about a group of college students back in our hometown. They wrote out the entire Gospel of John on the campus quad as a way to evangelize to the university community at the University of Illinois. Father is at work among the young.
Also, a few days ago, I read an article about more than 700 students who made the decision to follow Jesus, with 100 of them being baptized following an event at Appalachian State University. Father is at work among the young.
I think our young people are hungry for a connection to the Lord. The more they learn, the stronger their faith grows, and the more they understand the love and strength that only He can provide. In a world where many are killed for believing in Jesus Christ, these young people are choosing to follow Him. Perhaps they are finding what has been missing in their young lives.
Yes, I believe that Father is at work among the young. It is refreshing to see the Spirit move within them. It’s refreshing to see these young people coming together in Christ, rather than succumbing to the ugliness that this world can capture them in.
I will pray that the Lord continues to bless these young people. I pray that they will continue to be raised up and strengthened by Him, and that through their faith, they will lead others to Him.
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of your Son, and for working in the lives of your children.
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
