Come Together

I’m not a big fan of the fall time change. Before we know it, the sun is setting at 5:00 p.m., or earlier if you are farther north. I guess the trade-off, though, is that I can see sunrises again when I take my morning walk. It’s all how you look at the situation: is the glass half empty or half full? In the case of watching a sunrise or sunset, it’s always half full!

This morning, as I had my morning conversation with Father, I asked Him to guide me on what to share today. What I heard was, “Come together”. It made me think about the various encounters I have in any given day. Yes, there are challenges some days, and I have to ask the Lord to guide my actions and responses. Most of the time, though, I’m blessed to meet and get to know and help so many wonderful people. I believe the Lord brings us together for a reason.

Today is election day. No, I’m not going to talk about candidates, polls, or the dreaded robo calls and texts, (which I’ll be thankful when over). Instead, I hear Father’s words, “Come together”. Friends, over the past many years, we have watched political leaders do their best to divide us. And…unfortunately, many times we’ve taken the bait. I’ve come to realize that a truly United States of America might be scary to some politicians. It means a country, a people, God’s people standing together to be the best we can be for each other and our nation.

Friends, let’s stop letting others, who don’t even know us, divide us. Get to know your neighbor, share a smile with a stranger, treat others as you want to be treated. Let us come together as the Lord asks. We are in control of our future. This country is We The People. When we come together as one, we will be better.

Have a good day, friends. Lifting special prayers for my friend’s husband, John, this morning.

Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
