Simple Moments

Over the past week, my husband and I have been watching a series we used to watch years ago. We have all eight seasons on DVD, and last week we pulled them out to watch. Watching the episodes brought us back to when we watched them every week. We’d be so frustrated when the show left us hanging, not knowing what would happen next.

Some of my best memories growing up are of our family gathered in front of our little black-and-white TV to watch Star Trek. It was the original series. I can remember making popcorn and curling up on the floor by the couch with my mom and brothers to watch where the crew would be transported to next πŸ™‚ .

This morning, as I think about those memories, I realize it wasn’t about the TV shows; it was about the time spent with family. We were together. We didn’t have much growing up, but we had enough; we had each other.

In today’s busy world, I wonder how many families actually have a favorite TV show they sit down to watch together. The digital world has many just spending time alone scrolling.

My hope is that this world can get back to simpler times. Times when families sat around dinner tables together, enjoyed a TV show, or went out for ice cream. Those simple moments are where memories are made, and love is shared. Those simple moments brought our family closer together; they bonded us.

I guess I’m just “old-fashioned”, or maybe I’m an old soul. Memories of those simpler times, they make me smile and do my heart good.

Just more of my ramblings in this little blog this morning, friends. Have a good day; may it be filled with some simple moments that do your heart good πŸ™‚ .

Psalm 116:6
The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.
